Field Trip Word Problems 1.
Mr. Davidson and Mr. Pyper decided to take their science class on a field trip to explore the many interesting things in nature.
1. As they were bird watching Mr. Davidson's class counted 73 birds eating from the forest lawn. Mr. Pyper's class counted 68 birds eating from the forest lawn. How many birds did both classes see eating from the forest lawn?
2. Mr. Davidson's class collected 12 different kinds of leaves and Mr. Pyper's class collected 19 different kinds of leaves. How many leaves did both classes collect altogether?
3. Mr. Pyper's class found 10 different tress that produced nuts. Mr. Davidson's class found 16 different trees that produced nuts. How many trees did they find in all that produced nuts?
4. Lana took 97 pictures while walking in the woods. Helena took 64 pictures while on the field trip. How many pictures did the two girls take in all?
5. The two classes saw many flowering plants. Mr. Pyper's class saw 7 Lizard's Tail plants, 8 Wild Ginder plants, and 5 Dutchman Pipe plants. Mr. Davidson's class saw 8 Marsh Marigold plants, 6 Leatherflower plants, and 15 Pokeweeds Commonly some times called Inkweeds. How many flowering plants did both classes find?
6.Jeremy and Carrie were assigned to fin as many mushroom plants as they could. Jeremy found 5 Oyster Mushrooms, 3 Golden Trumpter Mushrooms and 9 Honey Mushrooms. Carrie found 3 jack- o-lantern Mushrooms, 6 Little Wheel Mushrooms, and 9 Haymaker's Mushrooms. How many mushrooms did Jeremy and Carrie find?
7. The classes saw a lot of nonflowering plants. Mr. Davidson saw 5 Meadow Spikemoss plants, 10 Cord Moss plants, 6 Broom Moss plants, and 15 White Cushion Moss plants. Mr. Pyper saw 21 Haircap Moss plants, 15 Spineleaf Moss plants, and 30 Common Hornwort plants. How many nonflowering plants did the two teachers see?
8. Wildflowers were everywhere. The students had a great time looking in their manuals for the names of the various wildflowers. Mr. Pyper's class listed 21 Pink Common Foxglove plants, 33 White Turtlehead plants, and 17 Trumpet Creeper plants. Mr. Davidson's class list consist of 31 Unicorn plants, 67 Venus' Looking Glass plants, 72 Tall Bellflower plants, and 26 Cardinal Flower plants. How many plants did each class list? How many plants did the two classes list altogether?
9. When the class stopped to picnic by a pond the saw several reptiles. They saw 2 Snapping Turtles, 4 Eastern Box Turtle, 3 Easter Fence Lizards, and 5 Stinkpot Turtles basking in the sun in shallow water. How many reptiles did the classes see?
10. The students enjoyed bird watching the most. Lana said, she saw 3 Mockingbirds, 17 Purple Martins, and 5 Eastern Wood Pewee birds, and 10 Great Crested Flycatcher birds. How many birds did Lana see altogether?
